1807 $5 Bust Left MS64 NGC. B. 5-D, Miller-101, R.3. A splendid near-Gem of this scarce type, which was introduced with this Miller variety in 1807. The surfaces are beautifully preserved, and the absence of roller or adjustment marks adds to the eye appeal. Well struck on the devices and on the right side stars, with modest weakness of detail on the left side border, perhaps due to a slight die misalignment. The bust has a prominent center dot, as made. The final star has a notch in the outer corner that has been accepted as John Reich's signature. Die clash lines (as struck) from the shield are noted within the hair tresses of the portrait. The dies are rotated approximately 30 degrees counter-clockwise from coin rotation. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
