1807 $5 Bust Left MS62 NGC. B. 5-D, Miller-101, R.3. The eagle, stars, and legends are well struck, as is the portrait except for the center of the hair tresses. The reverse has a few small speckles of tan patina. The obverse rim near star 3 has a pair of trivial contact marks. The luster is bright and extensive. Traces of die clash marks (as struck) from the reverse shield are noted near the ear of Liberty. The final star has a notch on the lower right point, which is considered to be the signature of mint engraver John Reich. Reich also designed both sides of the Bust Left Half Eagle, which made its debut with this issue in 1807. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
