1807 25C MS64 PCGS. B-1a, R.2. While not a "true" variety, the B-1a is a popular sub-variety in a year that only has two varieties. The 1807 is the final year of issue for the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle type and 220,643 pieces were struck. As a result, it is often used as a type coin; however, it is far from common in high grades. Only 16 pieces have been so graded by PCGS with three finer (3/03). In fact, high grade Bust Quarters are significantly scarcer than their Half Dollar counterparts, as banks in the early part of the 19th century had little use for Quarters. This piece has smooth, lustrous surfaces and there is just a bit of light golden toning over each side. Generally well struck except on the highpoints of Liberty's hair and the upper stars on the reverse. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
