1807 10C MS65 NGC. JR-1. Several varieties of the Heraldic Reverse dimes were produced from reverse dies that were also used for quarter eagles. This 1807 dime reverse was used for all quarter eagle varieties dated 1805, 1806, and 1807, in addition to this dime variety. As a result of this extensive use for two different denominations, the reverse die became quite worn from the continual pounding on silver and gold planchets. The dimes were the final variety produced from this die, with a substantial production of 165,000 coins after its previous use. Very sharply struck at the centers of both the obverse and reverse, with peripheral weakness, a virtually universal characteristic for examples of this issue. This Gem does not exhibit the heavy clash marks and other die defects that are almost always associated with this date. Frosty ivory luster with hints of gold toning.
From The Southwest Collection.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
