1807<1/2 C> C-1, B-1, R.1. Die State 3--Environmental Damage, NCS--AU Details. VF30 EAC. Tall, double punched 7; Five berries left, with stems. The mintage for the year was recorded as 476,000 coins, or 120,000 more than in 1806. Given the relative scarcity of the two dates (1806 is extremely common and 1807 is only very common), it seems likely that quite a significant number of the half cents struck in 1807 were actually dated 1806. Like all of the Reiver Collection coins of this date, nearly every 1807 Half Cent is from the late die state with a virtually complete lack of dentilation. The obverse is mostly dark steel with some olive color, while the reverse is essentially deep steel with hints of pale blue. The late die state has created extensive flowlines in the fields approaching the borders. A few minor scratches are present, although mostly lost in the flowlines and now essentially invisible.
Ex: MSNS Convention (11/29/1980); Bob Yuell (2/22/1999). Envelope Included.
