<B>1806 Partly Printed Thomas Jefferson Invitation.</B></I> One page, 8" x 5", Washington, December 26, 1806. It was sent to New York congressman Josiah Masters to dine with Jefferson. Masters served in many different political capacities in New York, and is buried near Schaghticoke, New York in 1822. The invitation from the president is partly printed, and reads: "Th: Jefferson requests the favour of Mr. Masters to fine with him on Monday, the 29th at half after three, or at whatever later hour the House may rise. Friday 26 Dec 1806. The favour of an answer is asked." Official White House initiations are avidly collected in their own right. This is one of the rarest, and by far the finest, of several examples we have seen. Very fine condition.
