1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem XF45 NGC. O-120a, R.4. A late die state, the reverse die break now joins 18 pales of gules 2 through 6 with a secondary break joining the two lowest crossbars from the left shield border to a point above the rightmost element of stripe 1. All other breaks described in Overton seem to be present on this piece, the terminal die state for O-120.
Attractive pewter-gray surfaces with lighter silver on the devices, surrounded by wisps of gold toning near the borders. Traces of peripheral luster remain on both sides.
Although O-120 is considered a plentiful R.3 die marriage, the terminal die state pieces are extremely rare. Probably just a dozen exist in all grades.
Haseltine-8, Beistle 4b-Kb, Overton-39, PCGS # 6071, Encyclopedia-4591.
Ex: Premier Numismatics (4/1999).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
