1806<50C> Pointed 6, Stem VG10--Lettered Edge Error, Graffiti--Uncertified. O-120, R.3. Medium steel gray with lighter silver on the devices. The obverse has faint graffiti in the right obverse field, and a scratch up the back of Liberty's head to the I in LIBERTY. On the reverse a couple of other scratches are found, one in the shield, others in the left wing of the eagle. These scratches are not terribly distracting. Early die state.
This coin has a very interesting edge, it appears after study that it went through the Castaing machine twice, once normally, the second time flipped over. The condition of the coin is such that the edge letters are not entirely clear, but enough shows to study the edge. Known as edge error number E59 in Parsley's update of the Overton classic Early Half Dollar Die Varieties 1794-1836.
