1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem VF35 PCGS. O-114, R.5. This workhorse obverse (Obverse 9) is paired with this single-use reverse (Reverse J). Most easily attributed by the repunched T and left side of Y. The reverse shows the lower right serif of the F missing, star 12 is attached to the point of the eagle's beak, and ME close to each other at the bases. Seen here, there is no trace of the horizontal die crack often seen on the reverse. As such, the "non-a" die state is scarcer than the "a" reverse with the crack.
A lovely, evenly circulated coin, the surfaces show medium density gray patina with a faint presence of underlying blue. There are no obvious abrasions on either side of this pleasing half. Just outside the Condition Census for this early die state. The early die state was not recorded in Haseltine, Beistle, or Overton (first edition).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
