The E over A variety, also known as the STATES over STATAS variety, is a rarity that is mentioned in the <I>Guide Book</B></I> as a footnote to the Pointed 6 half dollars, but deserves its own listing. Similar varieties are known for 1795 and 1814 half dollars, the latter having a separate <I>Guide Book</B></I> listing.<BR> Considerable light silver surfaces with splashes of gunmetal-blue and light gold toning near the borders on both sides.<BR> A major rarity and important blundered die variety, with a total surviving population of just 25 to 30 coins in all grades.
