1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem VF20 PCGS. O-126, R.7. The left side of the Y is recut at its base and faintly along the upright, as seen on O-118 through O-122, the other varieties produced from the same obverse die. The reverse has a leaf point below the space between R and I, a diagnostic feature of this rare variety, not seen on any other 1806 Pointed 6 half dollar.
An attractive mid-grade half dollar with deep steel and pale gray toning, lighter tan appearing on the devices. While not perfect, the surfaces are pleasing for the grade.
Just 10 examples of the O-126 die combination are known in all grades, and this example ranks number three in the Census. Finest known is AU50, followed by a VF30, and this coin.
PCGS # 6071, Encyclopedia-4591.
Ex: Michael Summers (8/1999).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
