1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem Fine 12 PCGS. O-127a, High R.6. This is a rare variety that was not known to Overton. It combines a new obverse die that has a smaller 6, higher than 180 but not touching the drapery, with the reverse of O-110 and O-111, coined before its combination with the 6 over Inverted 6 obverse die of O-111.
Deeply toned with steel-blue fields and lighter tan devices. The usual grade-associated handling marks are evident on both sides of this wholesome piece.
Steve Herrman estimates a population of just 13 or 14 known examples. This piece is apparently fourth or fifth finest of those examples, with VF20 representing the finest known.
PCGS # 6071, Encyclopedia-4591.
Ex: Michael Summers (7/2004).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
