1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem AU58 NGC. O-119, R.3. Design weakness at the back of the head and hair ribbon, and also on the lower left (facing) wing is due to die sinking that causes a bulge on the reverse. This piece has heavy clash marks on both sides, but no evidence of die cracks on the reverse.
Mostly brilliant silver surfaces with satiny luster, the obverse slightly muted by pale champagne toning. This attractive piece has a few minor abrasions, but none that are significant.
Probably at the low end of the Condition Census for the variety. Possibly as many as half a dozen Mint State examples are known.
Beistle 4a-J, Overton-35, PCGS # 6071, Encyclopedia-4591.
Ex: Northeast Numismatics (7/1998).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
