1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem AU55 PCGS. O-120, R.3. The O-120 is normally recognized by the internal die cud at the top of the vertical shield stripes, but on this early die state piece, the reverse break has yet to form. Both sides have minor die cracks and clash marks.
A brilliant and remarkable example with traces of highpoint wear, with a few microscopic marks and hairlines. Although the upper hair details is blunt, this piece is sharper than most 1806 halves.
Quite a few Mint State examples of the O-120 marriage are known, although we believe that this coin is about fifth or sixth finest of the perfect reverse coins.
Haseltine-8, Beistle 4a-K, Overton-37, 38, PCGS # 6071, Encyclopedia-4591.
Ex: Sheridan Downey (4/2003).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
