1806 50C Pointed 6, Stem AU55 PCGS. O-116, R.3. The third use of obverse 9, now with the recut TY still sharply visible, but not as bold as on O-114 or O-115. This piece has a heavy die crack from the tail to the top of UNITED and ST.
Pastel gold, green, and gray toning is evident on both sides of this attractive example. The strike shows considerable central weakness, quite typical for many of the 1806 and 1807 half dollars. Faint hairlines are visible, mostly on the obverse.
The O-116 die combination is scarce at best, and usually seen with the heavy die cracks of this example. Although not in the Census, this piece is clearly finer than most survivors.
Beistle 7-F, Overton-31, PCGS # 6071, Encyclopedia-4591.
Ex: Alpine Numismatics (2004).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
