<B>1806/5 50C MS62 NGC.</B></I> O-103, R.2. A splendid Mint State example of this scarce overdate variety. Four different overdate varieties are known from two overdated obverse dies, the second (O-104) being a die that was previously used in 1805. This is an intriguing year for overdated coinage. There are one 1806/5 quarter dollar variety, four different 1806/5 half dollar varieties, an 1806/5 quarter eagle variety, and an 1806/4 quarter eagle variety. A collection of all seven varieties, while not easy to assemble, would provide a splendid numismatic exhibit, especially with enlarged illustrations of the date details from all of these coins.<BR> This example has fully frosty and lustrous surfaces beneath rich amber, heather, lilac, and pale blue toning.
