1806/5 25C MS63 PCGS. B-1, R.2. Dark gunmetal gray 1806/5[25C] MS63 PCGS.
1806/5<25C> MS63 PCGS. B-1, R.2. Dark gunmetal gray and blue toning over the majority of the surface, with lighter yellow-gold hues at the periphery. The strike is decent for this issue, with strong curls on Liberty's head but the usual weak stars, and on the reverse we note a few lines of the shield are a trifle weak. The surfaces are generally attractive, but we do note a faint scratch down Liberty's face and neck, and toning streaks on the reverse. Generally clean surfaces and fields. This particular coin is identifiable by a pair of small nicks on the base of Liberty's neck in line between her ear and the 6, and on the reverse by a faint scratch on the first S of STATES which extends horizontally nearly to the cloud below. Both dies display multiple clash marks in the fields with the eagle's tail, wings, branch and arrows present on the obverse, and Liberty's ample bust perched on the clouds and stars of the reverse. Liberty's profile, hair and ribbon can also be found in the opposing reverse fields as well. A very scarce coin in mint condition and certainly one of the finer examples known of this popular overdate. Population: 3 in 63, 4 finer (8/05).
