1806 25C AU55 NGC. B-9, R.1. A later die state, the obverse exhibits a bisecting crack (as struck) from the rim outside the E in LIBERTY to the rim below the 1 in the date. Judging by current Guide Book prices, the 1806 is one of the more readily obtainable dates in the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle Quarter series of 1804-1807. Of course, survivors of all dates in this series are difficult to locate in grades at or near the Mint State threshold. This is an originally preserved survivor with a base of dove-gray toning over which dappled steel-gray shadings have gathered. The color lightens in the more protected around the devices, all of which are appreciably bold for the type with the exception of the stars and clouds above the eagle's head. Well centered with bold clash marks (as produced) on both sides and no singularly mentionable abrasions.
From The Arnold & Harriet Collection.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
