1806<1/2 C> Small 6, With Stems. C-2, B-1, Low R.4. Die State 2. XF40 NGC. VF20 EAC. Small, low 6; Six berries left, with stems. This is the more plentiful of two 1806 Half Cent varieties with a Small 6 obverse and Stems reverse. The two obverse dies are quite similar, but two characteristics will separate them. First, the digit 6 is normally positioned on this obverse with the base of all four digits on an even arc. Cohen-3 has the digit 6 high in relation to the other digits in the date. Also, on this variety the base of E is clearly lower than the adjacent B, while on C-3 all letters of LIBERTY are on the same arc line. This is a splendid example with exceptional olive and steel-brown surfaces. Although critical microscopic examination will reveal the usual quota of small scratches and abrasions, the overall eye appeal is excellent. It is a delightful example that most any collector would be pleased to own.
Ex: Steve Fischer (10/22/1983); Bob Yuell (2/22/1999). Envelope Included.
