1806<1/2 C> Small 6, No Stems MS64 Brown NGC. C-1, B-3, R.1. While Walter Breen recorded four different die states, Ron Manley included all of these in one die state description. Breen's perfect obverse die apparently does not exist, for the Ruby coin mentioned by him is clearly from a clashed obverse. According to Manley, all examples have the die cracks and rim breaks of Breen's later die states. This example has peripheral weakness in the area of these cracks. Aside from the weakness mentioned, this piece is exceptional and has fully lustrous light brown surfaces. The left side of the reverse is toned to a darker steel color. Traces of original red mint color remain, especially on the reverse. Breen Die State undetermined.
