1805<H10C> XF Details, Improperly Cleaned NCS. V-1, LM-1, R.4. The recorded mintage for this issue, last of the design, was 15,600 coins. As an R.4, approximately 150 examples survive, or about 1% of the reported production. Current die state records indicate that this is a late die state with a crack from the top of the 5 to the bust. Close examination, however, suggests that this may actually be a die scratch. Lovely surfaces have pale ivory, steel, and gold color with hints of underlying blue. The surfaces have faint hairlines, yet this is an outstanding example. Typical of all examples, this one has weakness at the bust tip and top part of the right wing.
Ex: Harold Bareford (Stack's).
From The William A.
