1805 50C VF25 PCGS. O-110, R.5. First of four die marriages for Obverse 7, this is the earliest state with the obverse perfect except for a slight die bulge above ERTY and stars 8 through 13. The reverse is cracked as in O-102 and O-108 with heavier cracks from the border to the left serif of U in UNITED, from the right wing tip to the tops of AME, and indistinct dentils above STATES.
Considerable luster is evident on both sides of this pleasing light gray and gold example. Vivid blue and iridescent toning follows the borders.
As one would expect, few examples of the O-110 have been offered at public auction in any grade. The Herrman listing of recent coins offered in auctions and mail bid sales lists the finest as 45/45, followed by 40/40, 30/30, 25/25, 20/20. At this grade level, this piece is tied with at least one other coin at the bottom of the Condition Census.
Haseltine-13; Not in Beistle; Overton-18; PCGS# 39284; Encyclopedia-4579.
Ex: Michael Summers.
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
