1805 50C AU50 PCGS. O-112, R.2. Like O-111, this is another use of Obverse 7 with a single-use reverse. This Large 5, five berries combination is unlike several of the previous reverses seen from this year, as this reverse has a normal F and the A's do not have a broken bottom serif.
This is the usual die state with light clash marks and minor die cracks, neither particularly advanced.
Sharply detailed with excellent luster on both sides. Light gray and gold color covers the obverse and reverse with deeper steel-blue and iridescent toning. The reverse has crossing adjustment marks through the clouds and stars.
A couple of near-Mint examples are known of the O-112, and several other pieces have been offered at auction in the various AU grades. At the AU50 level, this piece is currently tied with one other at the bottom of the Condition Census.
Haseltine-11; Beistle 5-F; Overton-20; PCGS# 39286; Encyclopedia-4577.
Ex: Gerald Shertz; Sheridan Downey (9/1997).
From The Westmoreland County Collection of Early Bust Halves, 1794-1807.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
