1805/4 50C --Cleaned--ANACS. XF40 Details. O-103b, R.6. The 103 variety is rare whether it is the a or b die state. The b die state has the large, triangular flake that has dropped out of the die and all but obliterated star 1 and the lower half of star 2. To underscore the rarity of this die state, only one 103b is recorded in Stephen Herrman's Autumn 2006 survey of rare Bust half varieties. And that coin only graded VG10/10. This is a well-detailed piece that has bright surfaces. Undoubtedly some of that brightness is from cleaning, but hairlines are not immediately obvious. Pale blue toning covers each side with deeper golden patina around the devices.
From The Reginald Byron Mason Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
