1805 1C MS62 Red and Brown Uncertified. S-269, R.1. When last offered as lot 5759 in our Cleveland ANA National Money Sale (3/97), this coin was housed in an MS62 Red and Brown PCGS holder. It is the only coin so graded by PCGS (4/01). Suitably defined in the centers, both sides also possess partial denticulation. The surfaces display a frosty texture with orange-brown coloration. The 1805 was produced to the extent of 814,464 pieces, a not insignificant total for a U.S. Large Cent. Nevertheless, survivors that grade as fine as the present example are rare. A few carbon spots over and behind Liberty's portrait on the obverse account for the grade. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium.
