1804 C-13 R1 Plain 4 without Stems PCGS graded MS63 Brown
1804 C-13 R1 Plain 4 without Stems. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Lustrous steel brown with a couple wisps of darker steel toning on the obverse. Generous traces of mint red remain visible on both sides. This piece would be choice except for a thin scratch from the center of the neck down to the bust where it fades away. EDS, Manley state 1.0. Softly struck on the left edge of the obverse and at the opposing area at UNIT, which is typical of the early die state due to the die faces being out of parallel alignment. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest graded at PCGS (#35176).
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.

Provenance: Ex Stuart M. Block collection, Superior 2/2/1992:442 (lot ticket included).
