1804 10C 14 Stars on Reverse--Damaged, Cleaned--ANACS. Fine 15 Details. JR-2, R.5. The 1 in the date touches the curl, and star 7 is distant from the L. The reverse shows, of course, 14 stars, with the last star touching both the neck and the motto. Much pleasing detail remains on this coin, and the surfaces are not overbright despite the mentioned cleaning, with a dove-gray obverse and some russet and aqua reverse toning. Under a loupe, the surfaces show moderate pitting from apparent corrosion, although ANACS has specified it as merely "damage." This variety, as Lovejoy et al. claim in the standard reference, is unknown in Mint State, although we offered an AU53 piece, the Eliasberg coin, in a recent sale. This is another variety from this consignment in which series specialists will show keen interest.
Ex: Stack's 71st Anniversary Sale (10/2006), lot 2649.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
