1804<1/2 C> Plain 4, With Stems. C-11, B-12, High R.2. Die State 2. AU55 NGC. VF35 EAC. Plain 4; Six berries left, with stems. An elusive variety in higher grades, despite a rarity rating of only R.2. In 1983, Walter Breen recorded just two examples EAC graded Mint State, along with five coins grading XF. Apparently unknown to Breen, the Reiver Collection coin is not listed in his census. This example has characteristics of both States 1 and 2. The reverse is weakly defined at the lower inside part of the wreath, including the ribbon bow, and also exhibits a clash mark through the base of E in STATES, down to a leaf in the left branch.
Ex: W.K.
