1804<1/2 C> Crosslet 4, With Stems. C-9, B-8, R.2. Die State 1--Obverse Damage--NCS. AU Details. VF35 EAC. Wide date, 4 centered; Close fraction, ridge at R. Obverse die cracks through LIBERTY are present but extremely faint. Reverse clash marks are visible as always. Apparently the accident creating these clash marks happened during the first few coins struck, or perhaps during setup, as no examples are known without these marks. However, the latest states of Cohen-8 do not show any clash marks, thus these are exclusive to the C-9 die marriage. Chestnut-brown surfaces have splashes of darker bluish toning on the obverse. The reverse is lighter in appearance and suggests that this example may have been cleaned and recolored at some time in the past. The obverse defects mentioned by NCS are nothing more than a few minor scratches that are now blended with the rest of the coin.
Ex: George Ramont (9/1967). Envelope Included.
