1803 Bust 10C
1803 Draped Bust Dime. PCGS graded AU-55 JR-4a. R-5. Well struck with uniform even greyish-blue toning. A worldly dose of exciting die breaks enlivens the reverse of this intriguing variety. And yet, they seem to have left the detail on the that side unaffected. The eagle shows all the fine detail in its breast feathers while the shield and ribbon scrolls are complete as well. The fields are very choice for the grade, and the strike on both sides is bold enough to warrant special mention. JR-4a is noted for heavy die cracks throughout the reverse, cracks that confirm the rare die pairing. According to Logan: "This is the second use of the obverse die with the recently discovered JR-5 dime providing the first use. The reverse was first used for 1802 JR-2 dimes. Pop 2; 4 finer (PCGS # 4473). Estimated Value $20,000 - 22,000. Our item number 143997 "
