On this variety the T in LIBERTY is perfect, and the 3 in the date barely touches the bust. This is the only use of this obverse die with the perfect T; the three other varieties known all have the 3 just free of the bust and a missing right foot on the T. This specimen shows moderate adjustment marks on the obverse that traverse LIB and Liberty's cap. The NCS caveat, however, refers to a small, confined area of pinscratches before the cap and just beneath LIBE. While they are not easily visible unless the coin is rotated or "flashed" under a light, they are deep enough to remove some metal and make a brighter surface color. The die crack beneath the date approaches star 1, and on the reverse the left shield point shows a crack to the eagle's wing. Despite the minor impairment, this piece shows original and attractive yellow-gold surfaces with only a few light field ticks, and it is a nice, collectible example of this very scarce early gold variety.<BR><BR><b>Shipping:</b> Coins & Currency (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.heritageauctions.com/common/shipping.php">view shipping information</a>)
