1803/2 $5 MS62 PCGS. Breen-6441, BD-4, R.4. Struck from the second overdate die, immediately recognized by the die crack through the base of the date, apparently a constant feature of all known examples. To date, none have been found with a perfect obverse die. This variety was once thought to be a major rarity, although today it is recognized as one of the more common die marriages for the year. Three of the four 1803/2 half eagle varieties are considered R.4 and one other is listed as R.5. This example is fully lustrous with rich orange-gold color with a hint of green. A few tiny surface marks prevent a higher grade, but this is a delightful example for the grade.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
