<B>1803/2 $5 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> B. 1-C, Breen-6441, Bass-3080, BD-1, R.4. Three of the four known 1803 half eagles varieties are considered scarce, and one is rare. All four varieties are 1803/2 overdates, from two different obverse dies. The obverse die used for the present example, and also used for varieties BD-2 and BD-3, has the former 2 right of center beneath the 3. The other obverse die, that of BD-4, has the 2 just left of center beneath the 3. This example, a pleasing Mint State piece, has brilliant and frosty yellow-gold luster with excellent eye appeal.
