1803<$10> Small Stars Reverse--Damaged--NCS. AU50 Details. Breen-6844, BD-3, Taraszka-28, R.4. The obverse die is used for all die marriages of the year. On the reverse, the cloud space is below the right tip of the E, and the long stem end curves downward. The "damage" that NCS refers to includes a long, curved arc on the obverse that runs from star 2 through Liberty's cap and into the field near star 11, and a pitted abrasion on Liberty's cheekbone. Below the arc, the coin is slightly bent. The bending also shows on the reverse at the shield bottom, although the effect is not that pronounced. The coin otherwise appears to be a problem-free AU example, with good luster and pleasing honey-gold surfaces. A personal inspection is suggested.
