1803 $10 Small Stars Reverse AU58 PCGS. Breen-6844, Taraszka-28, BD-3, R.4. This variety is confirmed by the reverse with the upper beak just about touching the star right below its point, and the right foot of the E in STATES over the cloud space; only one obverse was used for all six varieties. 150 to 200 examples are known (John Dannreuther and Harry Bass, 2006).
The high-end AU coin being offered in this lot displays pleasing yellow-gold patina with an occasional hint of apricot. Both sides retain a fair amount of luster, and a well executed strike leaves excellent definition on the design elements, including the strands of Liberty's hair, the obverse and reverse star radials, and the eagle's breast, neck, and tail feathers. Minor weakness is noted in the right (left facing) claw. Noticeable reverse clashmarks are visible in the area around the eagle's head. The few light marks scattered about are not worthy of individual mention. A very sharp early ten dollar piece.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
