1802 S$1 Narrow Date XF45 PCGS. B-6, BB-241, R.1. Die
1802 S$1 Narrow Date XF45 PCGS. B-6, BB-241, R.1. Die State III. Broken T; leaf point below left base of I. The reverse is a later state than the 1801 or 1802 overdate pieces that used this same die. Flowlines to the top feather at the left are heavy and resemble a die crack. The dentils in this area appear to be slightly farther from the feather, suggesting that the die has been lightly lapped. The B-6 variety is easily the most common 1802 die marriage and it is one of just three Draped Bust varieties that are considered R.1 and excellent choices for type collectors. Medium gray with hints of gold and darker steel color. Close inspection reveals traces of blue and iridescent toning. The usual scattered surface marks are present on this example.
Ex: Charles Katzenberg (1/2005).
From The William Luebke Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
