1802<S$1> Narrow Date AU50 NGC. B-6, BB-241, R.1. Die State III. Noticeable luster shimmers when this bold Early Dollar is rotated beneath a light. Rose-lilac, ocean-blue, and olive-brown toning alternate, with the latter color noted on the lower right obverse. A wispy vertical pinscratch is nearly concealed by the toning on the right obverse field. No other abrasions merit mention. The Silver Dollar was the preferred denomination of silver bullion depositors at the early U.S. Mint, since fewer coins needed to be counted, stored, etc.
