1802<1C> S-238, B-11, Low R.4--Corroded--NCS. XF Details. Probably unique in this terminal state. The final die state listed by Walter Breen has a rim break above STATES. In his remarks for the variety, Breen noted: "This variety may exist with a rim break on STATES, developed from the crack." Although it is not pretty, this example exactly matches Breen's description, with the rim break now joined to the tops of TATE, just missing the S at either end. Very sharply detailed with the central obverse and reverse having some relatively smooth brown surface, but with the peripheral areas displaying moderate to heavy corrosion.
Ex: Jonathan Kern (5/28/1996). Envelope Included.
