1802<10C> JR-4, R.4.--Rim Filed, Improperly Cleaned--NCS. XF Details. Light silver in color with slightly darker fields when compared with the devices. The obverse fields appear to have been carefully worked, but a loupe is needed to see this feature. The coin has a satiny texture which is probably the result of the improper cleaning. As to the rims being filed, they are filed on both the obverse and reverse around most of the dentils, and this can be seen even in the slab. A typical strike for this issue, with the ever-present softness on Liberty's central curls, but the reverse is sharp on all but the upper right portion of the shield. Early to middle die state, with no sign of the fatal die crack from star seven to the BE of LIBERTY. Identifiable by a minor nick on the lower left point of the 2, and another on the upper left point of star four on the obverse. A scarce date to find in high grade, and the present example is all too typical with the aforementioned problems.
Ex: Penn Jersey (July 1982). Envelope Included.
