1801<1C> S-217, B-7, R.6--Obverse Damage--NCS. VG Details. Good 4 EAC. Despite the notation by NCS, this is an exceptional example for the grade. In fact, neither Bill Noyes or Del Bland recorded any deduction to the sharpness grade, both agreeing on a grade of Good 4. Minor rim bruises, scrapes, and abrasions are not unexpected at this grade level, and surfaces are rarely perfect. This is the rarest of the Sheldon-numbered Draped Bust varieties. Only 17 are known, according to Del Bland, or 16 according to Bill Noyes. This example traces its pedigree back to Ken Rendell, one time coin dealer and now one of the top autograph dealers in the country.
Ex: Kenneth W.
