1801<1C> 100/000. S-221, B-5, Low R.2--Damaged--NCS. Fine Details. VG8 EAC. Die State VI. The obverse of this coin has two small, oval indentations on Liberty's drapery near the neck, another in the left obverse field near the rim at 7 o'clock, and a few other scrapes and keg marks, mostly confined to the obverse. The reverse has two short parallel scrapes under N in ONE. Most of these surface insults are noticeable only with a glass, and the overall effect probably sounds worse than it appears. The coin has glossy, dark-brown surfaces that are a little better detailed on the reverse, as often found with early large cents. There are a rim nick and a nearby bump at RICA, and the legend merges with the rim at UNI. The corrected fraction feature is clear. On the obverse the date merges with the rim at 18.
Ex: William R.T. Smith (3/7/1977). Envelope Included.
