1801<1C> 1/000. S-223, B-17, R.1. VF25 NGC. Fine 15 EAC. Die State VI. Breen calls this terminal die state of this variety "very rare." In addition to the prominent obverse rim breaks above IB and RTY, a huge break now joins the rim with the drapery at the front of the bust, extending downward about halfway to the 1 in the date. There is a small reverse rim break above ED. This coin is on a glossy, medium-brown but slightly rough planchet. Examination under magnification reveals a couple of small marks in the left obverse field. Other smaller marks are expected on a coin of this grade. Another prime opportunity for the large cent specialist to acquire an attractive coin from a rare die state.
Ex: David Proskey; Henry C. Hines; Dr. William H.
