1801 10C XF45 PCGS
1801 10C XF45 PCGS. JR-2, R.5. This is the scarcer of the two varieties of the year, and might best be attributed by the large Ts in STATES. An advanced reverse die state with a curved die crack from the right side of the shield to the E in AMERICA, another thin crack from the rim through the arrows, along the eagle's left (facing) leg, and into the shield, and two small cracks connecting the eagle's tail to the rim. Raised spots on the obverse are caused by die spalling, small chips falling out of the die. This variety is generally found in grades of VF30 and below and often with problems. Of the six examples of JR-2 Heritage has offered in the past, only one, an MS62, was finer than the current coin, and it is likely that this piece would fit somewhere within the condition census for the variety. The coin is well-struck with the only notable weakness on star 4 of the reverse, as always seen. Toned in pleasant lilac-gray tones, with hints of burnt orange on the obverse. Light, even wear is visible, with the minimum of intrusive surface markings causing a pleasing overall appearance. Traces of luster are visible in the recessed areas.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
