1801<10C> AU55 PCGS. JR-1, R.4. The less rare of only two die marriages known for this elusive date, JR-1 is identified by the prominently 'rusted' reverse field, as made. Most survivors are well worn; according to the standard John Reich Collectors Society reference, "Of highest rarity in MS-60 (not more than two known)." Luminous honey-tinged luster forms a band across LIBERTY and all obverse stars, luster also dominates Liberty's hair. On the reverse, luster is not far from complete, broken only on the exposed field. This lightly toned piece is surprisingly unabraded, a couple of tiny aqua or golden-brown spots on the upper obverse are mentioned only to demonstrate the trivial nature of the imperfections. The strike is typical on the central reverse, the remainder of the devices are crisp. Population: 2 in 55, 5 finer (3/05).
