Prolonged examination finds slight friction on the drapery and on the highpoints of the cap and scroll, but this sharply impressed example would have been considered Uncirculated throughout most of the pre-certification era. Indeed, substantial luster is present, particularly on the reverse, and the absence of detectable abrasions and adjustment marks further confirms its quality. An outstanding slider of the highest gold denomination from the first Philadelphia Mint.<BR> BD-2 is noteworthy for its glimpses of prooflike surface within selected areas of the portrait: below her ear, beneath the base of the cap, and within the neck curls. Presumably, the dies clashed, evidence of which remains.
