<B>1801 $10 AU58 NGC.</B></I> Breen-6843, Taraszka-25, BD-2, R.2. Several key diagnostics make attribution of this early gold eagle variety relatively simple. The position of the first obverse star should be observed in relation to Liberty's hair curl: on BD-1 two points of the star are close to the curl, on BD-2 the star is more distant. If further confirmation is desired, then examination of the L in LIBERTY should suffice: on BD-1 the L is very close to Liberty's cap; on BD-2 it is clearly more distant. This example is bright and somewhat prooflike, with rich green-gold coloration and much remaining luster.
