1801 $10 AU53 PCGS. Breen-6843, Taraszka-24, BD-1, R.5. Just two die marriages are known for the 1801 eagles, coined from two obverse and two reverse dies. Only about 40 to 50 examples of the BD-1 are known, while several hundred of the other die pair are known. The obverse of this early die state piece has no cracks or other apparent die defects, and the reverse has heavy die cracks on its reappearance after early states of 1800. The reverse die was reunited with the 1800 obverse after this 1801 die shattered. Both sides of this green-gold piece are abraded, but retain prooflike mirrors around the devices.

Coin Engraver: Robert Scot

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
