The variety is confirmed by the distance between star 1 and Liberty's Bust; on Taraszka 24, the only other variety of the date, star 1 is much closer. The 1801 is one of the more plentiful dates of the Capped Bust Eagle series, and this is perhaps the most common die variety in the series, making it perfect for type collecting purposes. This is a bright green-gold coin with a minimum of wear, indicative of the grade. The strike is a bit soft through the shield and motto, and a number of surface abrasions are evident.
