1801 to 1802 Dated Federal Period, Lot of Three, Bank Of The United States Partially-Printed official financial disbursement forms for their Securities managed By Baring's, London, Choice Very Fine.
Three rare and unusual, Similar Printed Form Documents, each Signed with the Corporate Officer’s Signature for "Fran Baring & Co." one with added, "Agt. of Fras Baring & Co - Jno Nixson"), 1 page, each measuring 10.5” x 8” located at "Devonshire-Square, Bishopsgate Street." {London}. They are dated; 4 April, 1801; 22 June 1801 and 17 May 1802, all being addressed to "Richard Lloyd, Esqr.". These Financial Disbursement Forms being for the Bank Of The United States Securities in this series of Statements for Baring's clients who had invested in United States securities at the turn of the nineteenth century. Expected postal folds and some marginal wear including a few minor chips and tears when the seal was broken upon opening.

One example is dated 30 April 1800, is preprinted primarily in Caslon, and reads in most part: "we have received from the Bank of the United States, a Remittance for Interest on American Stock, in which the Dividend on the Stock standing in your Name, is included, as particularized in the Foot of this Letter, and which we are ready to pay you any Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday, betwixt the Hours of Ten and One." Barings had become a major holder of stock in the Bank of the United States when the U.S. Government sold off its shares in the Bank. In 1803, Barings financed the $15 million Louisiana Purchase by the United States. The same year, the U.S. Government appointed Barings its London agents for the Bank of the United States. The first of these forms we have seen and offered. (3 items)
(Sir Francis BARING) (1740-1810) English merchant banker. In 1762 he with his brother John, founded the house of John and Francis Baring Company, which by 1807 had become the prominent Baring Brothers, & Co.
