c1850-This sword from the 1850s is marked LONDON MANUFACTORY on the blade. The blade is acid etched, showing a relief of American Indian Chief Tecumseh, a phoenix, and the words UNITED STATES NAVY. There is a folding guard on one side of the hilt, with the other side missing. The guard is also missing from the brass grip. The eagle head grip is also made of ivory, but has some small putty repairs evident. The blade is undamaged, with no edge, which is befitting of a parade and display piece of this nature. It`s not a weapon as much as a uniform accessory. Measures 33.5" overall, the blade measures 28.5" long. A beautiful military example. HKA#60404
